School Holiday Kids Entertainment & Party Ideas in Nairobi and Kiambu – 2026 Prices

School is almost out, and if you have children at home, you probably know what comes next: excited kids, visiting cousins, playdates, and the familiar question, "What are we doing today?"

Kenya's long school holiday runs from 26 October 2026 to 1 January 2027 for most basic education learners, according to the published national school calendar. That's plenty of time to make memories, reconnect with family and give children something fun to look forward to.

And here's the good news: you don't need a birthday or a huge event budget to organize a special day.

At Sherehe Events, we help families, parents, schools, churches and organizations put together children's entertainment and parties across Nairobi and Kiambu.

Whether you're planning a small garden playdate in Lavington, a cousins' get-together in Ruiru, a Christmas kids' party in Karen or a family fun day in Kikuyu, you can hire just the activities you need or choose a complete themed party setup.

Our current entertainment options include:

1. Bouncing castles from KSh 6,500
2. Face painting for up to 50 kids at KSh 6,000
3. Trampolines at KSh 8,000
4. Clowns and party games at KSh 6,000
5. Creative canvas painting at KSh 1,300 per child
6. Complete kids' party packages from KSh 22,000

Below are some practical ways to keep the children entertained during the long holidays, with actual prices from our event-hire catalogue.

1. Bring a Bouncing Castle Home for a Holiday Playdate

Sometimes the simplest idea is the one children enjoy most.

Invite a few friends, cousins or neighbours, put together some snacks and create an afternoon of outdoor play with a bouncing castle.

You don't need a big birthday setup. A clean, properly installed bouncing castle can turn an ordinary Saturday at home into something the children remember.

Our current bouncing castle hire options include:

The smaller option can be a good starting point for a modest home gathering, provided the available space and children's ages are suitable.

For a larger group, we can help you compare the different inflatable options before choosing.

A bouncing castle also works well for children's Christmas parties, family reunions, church holiday gatherings and end-of-year celebrations.

Before booking, we'll need to confirm the available space, access, power supply and appropriate play supervision.

2. Organize a Mini Holiday Fun Day with Games and Activities

Not every child wants to spend the whole afternoon on a bouncing castle.

Some enjoy jumping, others love games, and a few would rather sit quietly and build something with their friends.

That's why a holiday fun day with two or three activities can work especially well when children of different ages are attending.

At Sherehe Events, you can choose from activities such as:

For example, you could arrange a trampoline for active play, add Giant Jenga for group games and set aside a shaded area where the children can sit, rest and enjoy refreshments.

For younger children, ask our team about the suitability of the available soft-play and ball-pool options.

We recommend choosing activities according to the children's ages and the available space rather than simply hiring the largest equipment.

3. Try a Creative Holiday Painting Party

If your child loves drawing, painting or making things, a creative activity afternoon can be a lovely change from screen time.

Imagine a group of children seated around a table, each working on a colourful canvas, comparing their creations and proudly taking home something they've made.

Our Canvas Painting Station is listed at KSh 1,300 per person.

For example, a group of 10 children would have a published canvas-painting activity cost of KSh 13,000, before any separately selected equipment or services.

You could combine the painting session with a few simple games, light refreshments and family time.

It's a particularly appealing idea for small holiday gatherings, arts-themed parties and children who prefer quieter activities.

UNICEF also explains that play supports children's creativity, problem-solving and social development. Its guide to the benefits of free play offers useful ideas for parents.

4. Add Face Painting, a Clown or a Favourite Character

Have you ever noticed how quickly children become excited when a clown starts a game or they see someone being transformed into a butterfly, lion or superhero through face painting?

These little moments can make a gathering feel like a proper celebration.

Our current entertainment rates include:

A clown can organize games and help keep children involved in a group activity. Face painting adds another fun experience, while a mascot can create memorable photo moments.

For a larger holiday gathering, a magic or puppet show could provide a shared entertainment session.

You can also combine different activities, depending on your children's preferences and your budget.

Our suggestion: Don't overload the programme. A few well-planned activities, with enough time for breaks, can be more enjoyable than rushing children from one attraction to another.

5. Set Up a Little Holiday Treats Corner

Food is always part of the excitement at a children's celebration.

Whether you're arranging a Christmas party, a birthday during the school break or a weekend cousins' gathering, a small treats corner can make the day feel special.

Sherehe Events currently lists:

1. Candy Machine – KSh 10,000
2. Popcorn Machine – KSh 10,000

These can complement a games session, outdoor play area or themed children's party.

For children with dietary requirements or allergies, speak with the team about the planned food service before confirming your setup.

6. Celebrate a Holiday Birthday or Christmas Party with a Complete Setup

The long school holidays are also a popular opportunity for birthday celebrations, Christmas parties and family get-togethers.

Instead of hiring items from several different suppliers, you may prefer a coordinated setup with children's seating, themed decorations and entertainment.

Sherehe Events offers two main approaches:

Play Party – Standard

A play-focused children's setup, with a themed tent, children's seating and a bouncing castle or trampoline with a minder, plus other inclusions depending on the selected guest-count tier.

Current packages start from KSh 22,000.

Styled Party – Premium Themed

For families looking for more detailed styling, the premium range adds features such as customized balloon backdrops, themed table settings, welcome décor and hosted entertainment according to the package.

Current premium packages start from KSh 45,200.

Package contents and prices depend on the number of children and the selected tier. We recommend comparing the full inclusions rather than assuming every activity is included in the starting package.

You can also customize your celebration with adult seating, additional entertainment or a specific theme.

7. Plan a Kids' Entertainment Corner for a Family or Corporate Holiday Event

Children often attend bigger celebrations with their parents, including family reunions, company family days, church gatherings and end-of-year parties.

A dedicated children's corner can give them age-appropriate activities while adults enjoy the main programme.

Depending on the occasion, you might consider:

1. A bouncing castle or trampoline in a supervised play area
2. A face-painting station
3. A games host
4. Children's seating and activity tables
5. A creative painting area
6. A small treats station

We can help put together a practical equipment list based on the number of children, their ages, the available space and the type of event.

For larger gatherings, ask for a customized quotation rather than assuming that a standard birthday package will accommodate everyone.

How Much Should You Budget for Holiday Kids' Entertainment?

You can start with one activity or combine several items.

To help you compare options, here are three illustrative combinations calculated from our published item prices. These are examples, not pre-existing holiday packages.

These totals combine only the items named. They don't include additional décor, furniture, food or other services unless specifically mentioned.

The final quotation will confirm your selected items, event location, setup requirements and available hire or entertainment sessions.

A Few Things to Check Before Booking an Outdoor Kids' Party

A successful children's event isn't just about the decorations and activities. The setup also needs to be suitable for the venue.

Before confirming your booking, consider the following:

Space and venue access: Make sure there is adequate level space for the selected inflatable or activity equipment, plus safe access around it.

Children's ages: Choose activities appropriate for the age group and avoid mixing very different sizes or abilities on play equipment.

Adult supervision: Keep responsible adults or assigned minders watching active play, particularly around inflatables and trampolines.

Weather: Outdoor play equipment may not be safe during strong winds or severe weather. Keep an eye on forecasts from the Kenya Meteorological Department.

Power: Let us know whether the venue has a reliable electricity supply, especially where inflatable blowers or machines are involved.

Breaks and refreshments: Plan time for water, rest and food between activities.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's inflatable safety guidance also highlights the importance of proper anchoring, suitable weather, occupancy limits and active supervision.

If you're unsure what will fit at your venue, share the location and a few photos of the available space. Our team can help you discuss suitable options before booking.
